Corporate event sketch artist

One square metre. No power, no table, no rigging, no load-in slot. If there is a stool I will use it; if there is not, I work standing, which is what happens most of the time anyway.

Set-up is under five minutes and so is strike. That matters more at a corporate event than at a wedding, because the room usually has to turn around for something else.

Between fifty and seventy portraits in three hours, at two to three minutes a face. That is the honest throughput and it does not go up by pushing.

For a 300-person event, that means portraits reach roughly a fifth of the room. If the objective is that everyone gets one, the answer is a longer session or a second artist, and I will say so rather than take the booking and disappoint the other four fifths.

Copyright in the drawings stays with the artist, which is the default and the norm. What you buy is the event and a licence to use the images: high-resolution files for your channels, internal use, press and social, with no time limit and no per-use fee.

If you need the artwork for paid advertising or on packaging, that is a different licence and it is a conversation, not an obstacle. Say so at the briefing stage and it goes in the quote.

Files land within the same week. Originals are finished in studio and posted within two weeks.

Plenty of corporate events have things in the room that should not end up on Instagram. The default is that nothing from a corporate booking is published without written sign-off, and an NDA can be signed before the briefing rather than after it.

If the event is under embargo, say so at the enquiry. It changes nothing about the day and everything about what happens afterwards.

Invoicing is from Portugal, which decides the VAT treatment rather than any choice on either side.

For a Portuguese company, Portuguese VAT is added at the standard rate. For a company in another EU member state with a valid VAT number, the reverse charge applies under the B2B place-of-supply rule: the invoice carries no Portuguese VAT and you account for it at your end. For a company outside the EU, the supply is outside the scope of Portuguese VAT. The VAT number for your finance team is PT000000000.

Payment terms are the deposit to hold the date and the balance two weeks before. Purchase-order numbers on the invoice are fine; a thirty-day payment cycle after the event is not, because the date is held against other work.
